How race night works

laps.dazrave.uk runs a private Project Cars 2 dedicated server. We track every lap from every player and tag it to a driver name you claim on your phone (Steam laps don't work for shared rigs — everyone shows up as the rig owner). Race-night style: pick a car/track combo, fight for the top of the board.

1. Open the leaderboards

https://laps.dazrave.uk/ shows recent combos and who's currently driving. Click a combo to see the board for that track + car.

2. Pick the race in /control

https://laps.dazrave.uk/control lets anyone pick the track, car (or class), weather, and lengths. Click Apply & start and the dedicated server reconfigures within seconds. Server status updates live at the top of that page.

3. Join the server in PC2

From inside Project Cars 2:

  1. From the main menu, go into the Multiplayer / online section.
  2. Find or browse online sessions.
  3. Look for the session named "Anton PC2 Server (laps.dazrave.uk)".
  4. It will ask for a join password — see /control for the current password (or get it from whoever invited you).
  5. Join it. The track + car are already set by whoever last hit Apply on /control.

PC2's exact menu names vary by platform / patch — if you can't find the server browser, look for "Find Game", "Browse Sessions", or "Online Multiplayer". Make sure region filters are wide ("All servers", any region).

4. Claim your driver name from your phone

Multiple humans share the same rig and Steam account, so the leaderboard can't trust the in-game name. Before you drive, claim the rig:

  1. On your phone (or any browser on the same Wi-Fi as the rigs):
  2. If you're not on the rig's LAN, the page will let you pick which rig you're claiming from a dropdown instead of inferring it.
  3. Pick your name (or hit + New driver to add yourself with a 6-digit PIN).
  4. Enter your PIN. You now have the rig for the next 4 hours, or until someone else claims it.

5. Drive

The dedicated server's logger catches every completed lap from every player automatically — there is no per-rig setup needed. Lap appears on the leaderboard within a second of crossing the line, tagged with whoever currently holds the rig claim.

FAQ

Do I need to own PC2?

Yes — players need Project Cars 2 on Steam. The server itself is a free download from Steam Tools and runs as an anonymous Steam game server (no account needed for the server).

I forgot to claim and just drove a lap. Did it not count?

Right — laps without an active claim are dropped to an "unclaimed" bucket that an admin can reassign retrospectively. The leaderboard never silently misattributes laps.

Can people see results without an account?

Yes — the leaderboards, /howto and /control are all fully public. Only the PIN protects driver-name claims.

What's a "valid" lap?

PC2 invalidates a lap if you cut the track or run wide enough to miss kerbs. Invalid laps are still recorded but filtered out of the default view (toggle "valid laps only" off to see them).

How do I run a "Top Gear hot lap" night?

On /control, scroll to the presets and pick Top Gear · Reasonably Priced Car. Choose a single car (e.g. Renault Clio Cup) and a track. The server enforces it for everyone and the laps for that combo become the long-running board.
